How to Import and Edit AI-Created HTML Websites in Builderall

12 min read

Builderall allows you to import websites created with AI tools as HTML or ZIP files, publish them online, and continue editing them directly inside Builderall using the AI Website Editor.

You can create your website with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, or any other AI platform capable of exporting a static HTML website.

After importing the site, you can use natural-language instructions to modify the design, add new elements, create functional forms, connect MailingBoss, add booking options, WhatsApp buttons, images, videos, and more — without manually editing the HTML code.

What You Can Do

With AI HTML Upload and the AI Website Editor, you can:

  • Upload an HTML, HTM, or ZIP website.
  • Publish the website with Builderall hosting and SSL.
  • Edit an imported website using natural language.
  • Select specific elements visually and ask AI to modify them.
  • Add new sections while preserving the existing design.
  • Create functional contact forms.
  • Connect forms to MailingBoss.
  • Connect forms to a Builderall CRM or mailing list.
  • Add booking functionality.
  • Add WhatsApp buttons.
  • Generate or upload images.
  • Embed videos.
  • Connect a custom domain.
  • Save and publish your changes directly from the editor.

This means that your AI-generated website is no longer just a static HTML file hosted by Builderall. You can continue developing and connecting it to the Builderall ecosystem after it has been imported.

Watch the Complete Tutorial

n the video below, you’ll see the complete workflow for working with an AI-created website in Builderall — from importing and analyzing your HTML project to editing the website with AI, selecting specific elements, adding Builderall features and integrations, and publishing your changes.

Watch the walkthrough first for a complete overview, then use the step-by-step guide below whenever you need to review a specific feature or configuration.

1. Prepare Your AI-Created Website

Create your website using the AI platform of your choice.

When the website is ready, ask the AI platform to export the project as:

  • .html
  • .htm
  • .zip

When Should You Use a ZIP File?

Use a ZIP file if your website contains additional files such as:

  • Images
  • CSS files
  • JavaScript
  • Fonts
  • Videos
  • Multiple HTML pages
  • Other local assets

Keep all required files and folders together inside the ZIP.

Tip: If your website uses images, make sure they are optimized for the web before uploading. Large image files can make your website unnecessarily slow.

2. Upload the Website to Builderall

If you already have a Builderall account, access the Website Builder and locate AI HTML Upload.

Choose your .html, .htm, or .zip file.

Then click:

Upload and Analyze

Builderall will process the project and prepare it for publishing.

Once the analysis is complete, you can publish the website and receive a live URL.

Don’t Have a Builderall Account Yet?

You can also start by going to:

host.builderall.com

Upload your AI-created website and host it using Builderall.

From there, you can bring the project into the Builderall environment and access additional Builderall features as your project grows.

3. Publish Your Website

After Builderall analyzes your files, publish the website.

Your website will be hosted on Builderall’s infrastructure with SSL enabled.

You can then:

  • Share the website URL.
  • Connect a domain you already own.
  • Purchase a domain through Builderall.
  • Connect a domain registered with another provider using the Builderall Domain Manager.

You do not need to upload the website again just to connect a domain.

4. Edit Your Imported Website With AI

This is one of the biggest improvements to the AI HTML workflow.

Previously, changes to an imported HTML website generally had to be made in the original file before uploading it again.

With the AI Website Editor, you can now edit the imported website directly inside Builderall.

Open your website and click Edit.

The editor displays:

  • Your website preview.
  • The AI Editor.

You can then describe the change you want using natural language.

For example:

Add a call-to-action button to the header.

or:

Add a contact section that matches the existing design of this page.

The AI analyzes the existing website before creating the new element, helping it preserve elements such as:

  • Fonts
  • Backgrounds
  • Button styles
  • Spacing
  • Visual hierarchy
  • General look and feel

5. Use “Select on Site” for Precise Changes

When you want to change a specific part of the website, use Select on Site.

Once enabled, elements on the page become selectable.

Select the element you want to modify and give the AI an instruction.

For example:

Make this button larger and move it slightly to the left.

or:

Change this section so the form matches the rest of the page.

Using Select on Site gives the AI more context about exactly where the change should be applied.

Tip

When requesting a change to a specific element, select it first instead of relying only on the prompt.

For example, instead of:

Add a button somewhere near the top.

select the header and use:

Add a CTA button to this header using the same style as the existing buttons.

This produces more predictable results.

6. Add Functional Forms

The AI Editor can add forms directly to your imported website.

You can ask the AI to create a form while matching the existing visual style.

For example:

Add a contact form to this section and match the style of the rest of the page.

The generated form can be functional — not just a visual HTML form.

Depending on your objective, you can configure it to:

  • Send submissions to an email address.
  • Connect to MailingBoss.
  • Add contacts to a specific mailing list or campaign.
  • Connect to supported Builderall CRM functionality.
  • Work with other available Builderall integrations.

Example

You can create a contact form and instruct Builderall to send submissions directly to a specific email address.

For lead generation, you can instead connect the form to MailingBoss and choose the corresponding list or campaign.

7. Connect MailingBoss

Forms created inside the AI Editor can be connected to MailingBoss.

When creating or configuring your form, select the MailingBoss integration and choose the appropriate campaign or list.

This allows an AI-created external HTML website to become part of your Builderall email marketing workflow without manually creating a separate HTML integration.

Your flow can become:

Visitor → AI Website → Form → MailingBoss → Email Automation

8. Add Booking Options

You can also connect website elements to Builderall booking functionality.

This is useful for websites created for:

  • Consultants
  • Agencies
  • Coaches
  • Service businesses
  • Sales teams
  • Appointments
  • Discovery calls

Ask the AI Editor to add or integrate the booking option where appropriate on the page.

9. Add a WhatsApp Button

You can use the AI Editor to add a WhatsApp button to your website.

For example:

Add a floating WhatsApp button to this page.

You can also select a specific section before asking the AI to add the button.

The AI can use the existing website design as context when creating the new element.

10. Add or Generate Images

The AI Website Editor also gives you access to Builderall’s media tools.

You can:

  • Upload an image.
  • Select an existing image.
  • Generate an image with AI.
  • Ask AI to place an image inside a selected section.

Builderall uses the same media toolkit available across other Builderall tools, helping keep your assets accessible within the platform.

Example

Select a section and ask:

Generate and add an image that matches the style and feel of this website.

11. Add Videos

Videos can also be incorporated into your AI-created website.

You can use:

  • A video included with your website files.
  • An uploaded video.
  • A supported external video link.

You can then ask the AI Editor to place or embed the video in a specific part of the page.

For better results, use Select on Site to indicate where the video should appear.

12. Save and Publish Your Changes

After making changes with the AI Editor, save your work and publish the website.

The published version will include your new changes and integrations.

You do not need to return to your original AI platform and regenerate the entire HTML project every time you want to make a small change.

This is especially useful because repeatedly regenerating an entire website with an external AI tool may unintentionally modify other parts of the design.

Use the Builderall AI Editor for targeted changes after your website has been imported.

Supported Upload Files

Builderall supports static website projects.

Main Upload Formats

TypeSupported
HTML.html, .htm
ZIP.zip

Maximum Upload Size

The uploaded file can be up to 10 MB.

ZIP Limits

A ZIP project can contain:

  • Up to 50 MB after extraction.
  • Up to 100 files.
  • Up to 10 levels of folder depth.
  • At least one .html or .htm file.

Folders themselves do not count toward the 100-file limit.

Supported Static Assets

Builderall supports common static website files including:

Styles
.css

Scripts
.js, .mjs, .map

Images
.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .gif, .avif, .svg, .ico

Media
.mp4, .webm, .mp3, .ogg, .wav, .m4a

Fonts
.woff, .woff2, .ttf, .otf, .eot

Data and Documents
.json, .txt, .md, .xml, .csv, .pdf

Static Websites and Backend Code

AI HTML Upload is designed for static websites.

JavaScript can be used because it runs in the visitor’s browser.

However, server-side technologies are not executed as part of the uploaded website.

Examples include:

  • PHP
  • Python
  • Java
  • C#
  • ASP.NET
  • Ruby
  • Go
  • Node.js server applications

SQL files also cannot run directly because they require a database environment.

If your AI tool creates a React, Vue, Next.js, or other framework-based project, make sure you export the static production build rather than uploading the source project.

Multiple Pages

If your AI website already contains multiple HTML pages linked together, include all required pages and assets in the exported project.

When using an external AI website generator, you can ask it to create and link the required pages before exporting the HTML or ZIP.

Important: The availability of creating additional independent pages directly from the AI Editor may vary as the editor continues to evolve.

If the option is not available in your account, you can:

  • Include the pages in the original imported project.
  • Create another HTML upload.
  • Use a separate website or subdomain for a landing page.

Tips & Tricks

Select Before You Prompt

If you want the AI to change one specific part of the site, use Select on Site first.

This reduces ambiguity and helps prevent the AI from modifying the wrong section.

Tell the AI to Match the Existing Design

Useful instructions include:

Match the existing visual style.

Use the same button design already used on this page.

Keep the existing typography and spacing.

Make this section look like it was part of the original design.

Make One Focused Change at a Time

Instead of requesting several unrelated modifications in one prompt, make focused changes and review the result before continuing.

Optimize Images Before Uploading

Use web-friendly image dimensions and compression whenever possible.

A visually impressive AI-generated image does not need to be several megabytes in size.

Keep a Copy of Your Original Project

Even though you can now continue editing the imported site inside Builderall, keeping your original HTML or ZIP project is still recommended as a backup.

Troubleshooting

My Website Is Blank After Uploading

Your AI tool may have generated source files for a framework instead of a static website.

Export the compiled/static version of the website and upload that version.

If possible, ask your AI tool:

Export this project as a static HTML website that can run without a Node.js server or build process.

Images Are Missing

Check whether the image files were included in the ZIP.

Also verify that the HTML uses correct relative paths.

Avoid file paths pointing to your local computer, such as:

C:\Users\...

Those paths only work on your computer.

My Website Looks Different After Uploading

Check whether all required CSS, fonts, JavaScript, and image files were included.

For external resources, make sure their URLs are publicly accessible.

The AI Changed the Wrong Element

Undo the change if necessary, then use Select on Site and select the exact element before sending your instruction again.

Be precise about the desired result.

Instead of:

Move the button.

use:

Move this selected button slightly to the left without changing its size or design.

The AI Added an Element in the Wrong Location

Use Select on Site to select the destination section before asking AI to add the element.

The selected element or section provides additional context about where the new content should be placed.

My Form Doesn’t Send Leads Where I Want

Review the form configuration and confirm whether it should:

  • Send to an email address.
  • Connect to MailingBoss.
  • Connect to a specific list or campaign.
  • Use another available Builderall integration.

Creating the form and defining its destination are separate parts of the setup.

My Changes Aren’t Visible on the Live Website

Make sure you saved the changes and published the updated website.

Editing the project does not necessarily mean the currently published version has already been replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

No.

For supported changes, you can now use the Builderall AI Website Editor to modify the imported site directly, save the changes, and publish the updated version.

Final Thoughts

AI tools make it extremely fast to create website designs and HTML projects.

Builderall takes the next step by giving those websites a place to be hosted, edited, published, and connected to real marketing tools.

The workflow becomes:

Create with AI → Export → Upload to Builderall → Edit with AI → Connect Your Marketing Tools → Publish

Instead of treating an AI-generated HTML website as a finished static file, you can continue building it inside the Builderall ecosystem as your business grows.
