Tutorial: Domain and Sender Email Setup in MailinBoss
This process is divided into two main parts:
- Domain connection and DNS validation
- Sender email verification
Before You Start
- Your domain can remain hosted with any external provider.
- You do not need to change nameservers unless you want full domain migration.
- The sender email must already exist (MailinBoss does not create email inboxes).
1. Adding an External Domain in MailinBoss
- Go to Tools > MailinBoss.
- Access Settings.
- Create your Company if you haven’t done so yet.
- Open Domains and click New Domain.
- Select External Domain.
- Enter your domain name (without
wwworhttps). - Select the company you created.
- Click Next to generate DNS records.
MailinBoss will generate the required DNS records:
- DKIM (TXT)
- SPF (TXT)
- DMARC (TXT)
- CNAME
2. Adding DNS Records at Your Domain Provider
Log in to the DNS manager of your domain provider.
DKIM Record (TXT)
- Create a new TXT record.
- Copy the Host/Name provided by MailinBoss.
- Paste the Value exactly as shown.
- Save the record.
SPF Record (TXT)
SPF is usually an existing record.
- Locate the existing SPF record (TXT).
- Edit the record.
- Add the MailinBoss
includevalue inside the existing SPF, separated by a space. - The include must be placed before
~allor-all. - Save the changes.
This step is critical for proper email delivery.
DMARC Record (TXT)
- Create a new TXT record.
- Use
_dmarcas the host. - Paste the value provided by MailinBoss.
- Replace the default email with a real email from your domain, for example:
abuse@yourdomain.com
- Save the record.
CNAME Record
- Create a new CNAME record.
- Use the host provided (for example,
MB). - Paste the value shown by MailinBoss.
- Save the record.
3. DNS Propagation
- DNS propagation may take anywhere from 20 minutes up to 48 hours.
- Once propagation is complete, MailinBoss will confirm that the domain is verified.
4. Verifying the Sender Email
- Add the professional sender email you want to use.
- The email must already exist in your email provider.
- MailinBoss will send a verification code to that email.
- Check your inbox and spam folder.
- Enter the verification code to complete validation.
- Once verified, the sender email will be ready for use.
Conclusion
After completing these steps:
- Your domain will be fully connected.
- Your sender email will be verified.
- You’ll be able to send email marketing campaigns through MailinBoss with proper authentication and deliverability.
